About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Sales Engineer to lead the POC process for our data, cloud, and AI solutions for marketers. You will analyse customer needs, prepare data, and deliver impactful reporting that validates value and successfully moves the sales process to close. As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor junior sales engineers and drive the evolution of our POC methodology. This role reports to the Vice President of Sales and is based in San Francisco (Onsite).

What You'll Do

  • Design and execute complex POCs that demonstrate Alembic's value, progressing deals to close

  • Lead technical discovery and requirements gathering with senior customer stakeholders

  • Prepare and process customer data to build accurate POC reporting for enterprise-scale implementations

  • Deliver compelling presentations of POC results to C-level and senior customer stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Enterprise AEs and Product to align solutions with strategic objectives

  • Drive scalable POC processes and best practices across the sales engineering team

  • Mentor and develop junior sales engineers

  • Contribute to product roadmap discussions based on customer technical feedback

What Will Help You Succeed

  • 5-8 years in Sales Engineering or similar pre-sales technical roles in B2B SaaS, data, cloud, or AI

  • Proven track record leading successful POCs that closed complex enterprise deals

  • Strong data analysis skills, with ability to prepare and process large-scale enterprise data sets

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and/or other scripting languages for data preparation and quality-testing

  • Deep experience with data platforms, cloud infrastructure, or AI solutions

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with C-level executives

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and strategic thinking ability

  • Collaborative and proactive approach with team leadership experience

  • Ability to travel as needed (~25%)

  • Experience delivering POCs for data, cloud, or AI in marketing contexts

  • Background as a senior data analyst, business analyst, or technical consultant

  • Deep familiarity with enterprise procurement and security review processes

  • Startup or high-growth environment experience with scaling responsibility

  • Advanced technical certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or GCP Professional

  • Ability to create and manage scalable POC frameworks and reusable technical assets

  • Experience working with marketing customers and understanding their technical landscape

  • Previous startup or founder experience

  • Expert-level technical training or certifications in AI/ML

  • Experience contributing to product strategy and roadmap decisions

  • Advanced exposure to value engineering, ROI modelling, and business case development
